Hi everyone! Thank you for your interest in Little Swans.
I started Little Swans to give children a fun, magical introduction to dance. A class where they can learn the basics of ballet, gain confidence and most of all have fun.
I fell in love with ballet at age six on a class field trip to Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker. At intermission I asked my mother if I could “do ballet”. Two weeks later I was nervously standing in the studio before my first class when another student commanded “come on guys, we need to put rosin on our feet!”.
I didn’t know what rosin was. Embarrassed and nervous, I ran out of the room crying. My teacher convinced me to watch from the doorway with my mother. Halfway through class my teacher gently coaxed me in and my ballet career began. I’ll never forget the patience and kindness of my first teacher and vow to always be the same with my students.
At age fifteen I left my family and moved to New York City to study with the School of American Ballet. Upon graduation from SAB I danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater.
My goal with Little Swans is to instill my love of dance to my students. I want the children’s first experience in a dance class to be positive and joyous.
